Re: Resolution for a Permanent Cease Fire in Gaza

Today the world learns of the shocking news that Israeli troops have wantonly slaughtered over 100 Palestinians and wounded thousands more standing in line for desperately needed food. This massacre occurred while citizens of Cincinnati were pleading with you during the last council meeting of Black History Month to support a call for a permanent ceasefire and an immediate end to the genocide in Gaza. Have those pleas fallen on deaf ears? Can you not hear the cries of the wounded victims and feel the anguish of families with martyred members? Do you all share the callous indifference of Mayor Pureval who sat silent and stone-faced yesterday when asked by one of the witnesses to simply state that though he may not be Palestinian, he is a human being and, as such, stands with the Palestinian people and shares their grief? I pray it is not so.

This slaughter of innocents must stop, as must the roaring silence of this council. Silence is the voice of complicity. On behalf of the Ohio Peace Council, a certified chapter of the U.S. Peace Council, I implore you to issue a Ceasefire Resolution without delay.
